Hillary’s Favorite Poll
1 comment December 26th, 2007
With just over a week to go before the Iowa caucus, the latest poll from that state shows Hillary Clinton for the first time with a double-digit lead over Barack Obama. In fact, in that poll Obama comes in third, right behind John Edwards. The Obama surge keeps piling on.
One would think that Hillary Clinton would want to trumpet this poll on her official presidential campaign website. However, it is not that poll, but a Gallup poll just out on the most admired woman in the world, that Hillaryland has chosen to spotlight. As you can guess, Hillary Clinton was polled the most admired woman in the world. She even beat out Oprah Winfrey.
There is a rationale for the Clinton political machine to focus on this Gallup poll, and ignore what one would think is good news about the rise in Senator Clinton’s fortunes in Iowa. Hillary Clinton’s whole strategy for winning the presidency is based on getting the lion’s share of the woman’s vote. This Gallup poll will be used by Hillary to convince the women of Iowa that she really is their girl. If it works in Iowa, it may be the pattern for the remaining primary contests as the 2008 campaign now moves into a higher level of intensity.
