With the announcement that a tenth Democratic Senator has endorsed Hillary Clinton for president, the Clinton political machine is sending a message to caucus goers in Iowa that their candidate is the preferred choice of the Party’s establishment. It is part of a strategy that is throwing everything into the mix to persuade the voters to caucus for Hillary Rodham Clinton.
In addition to the senatorial supporters of Clinton, Hillary has also mobilized the Democratic governor of Ohio to campaign for her in Iowa. His message is that only Hillary Clinton can win Ohio for the Democratic Party next November.
Logic or reason can back none of these claims. However, Hillary has faith that enough voters will suspend disbelief and follow the propaganda that these endorsers of Hillary Clinton read faithfully from their scripts. If Hillary Clinton does win the Iowa caucus, it will be a tribute to her political connections and PR staffers, not her record of so-called “accomplishments.”

The latest Iowa caucus polls are all over the map. Most of the recent ones have Hillary Clinton in a tight or modest lead over Obama. MSNBC has a poll showing, of all things, John Edwards in the lead, with Hillary Clinton in second and Obama in third place. Where is this supposed Obama surge?
It is clear that these polls are meaningless. The Iowa results will depend on a myriad of factors, including the weather. Most importantly, the candidate with the strongest organization will have the decisive advantage.
Though Hillary Clinton is polling much stronger in Iowa then she has for most of the past year, the media continues to under-estimate her political skill and cunning. One media pundit claims that Hillary Clinton’s recent “softer image” campaign in Iowa was a failure, which is supposedly why she is back on selling experience. I think they miss the point. Her “softer image” actually did succeed in stopping her decline in Iowa, and restoring her competitiveness with Obama. As for the shift in her campaign back to “experience,” this is another example of how the Clinton political machine can, with alacrity, shift positions on a dime, depending on which direction the popular winds among the electorate are blowing.

If Hillary Clinton wins the Iowa Caucus, it will be due to the success of the Hillaryland campaign in stealing the message of “change” from Barack Obama. Lacking experience or any record of serious political accomplishment, Barack Obama’s campaign has relied on the perception that he is the candidate of change, reinforced by the support of Oprah Winfrey. However, recent manifestations from the Obama campaign, such as blaming Benazir Bhutto’s murder on Hillary Clinton, undercut his seriousness while playing into the game plan of the Clinton political machine. Now, Obama is even attacking John Edwards. This does not enhance the credibility of his claim to be the candidate of change and hope.
In the meantime, Hillary Clinton has been aggressively positioning herself as both “experienced” and the true candidate of “change.” Her most recent Iowa TV ad focuses on the housing crisis, claiming that if the Iowa voters are ready for change, she is ready to “lead.” She has also gone back to attacking George W. Bush, while largely ignoring her Democratic rivals.
It appears that the Clinton political machine has been undertaking some serious polling in Iowa, responding with a succession of quickly produced TV spots designed to appeal to an array of Iowa voting constituencies. While the visible part of the campaign is in the final stretch, Hillary Clinton’s political operatives are also seeking to defeat Obama and Edwards on organization, insuring her supporters are out voting on January 3 in higher numbers than the opposition.
Is Hillary Clinton really the candidate of change? The French have a clever saying: “The more things change, the more they remain the same.”

The two leading Democratic candidates for president, supposedly the brightest lights in the liberal political universe, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, could not resist exploiting the tragic assassination of Pakistan’s Benazir Bhutto for their own crass purposes.
The prize for base crudeness must go to the Obama campaign, which accused Hillary Clinton, of all things, of being at least in part to blame for Bhutto’s murder. This is asinine to the point of incredulity, and will no doubt now be exploited by Hillaryland to showcase how inept Obama is when pontificating on grave matters of national security.
Hillary Clinton, meanwhile, is playing her own game. In an interview on CNN she offered her strongest words of wisdom on how America should respond to the dangerous turn of events in Pakistan. Of all things, Hillary wants an international investigation into the murder of Ms. Bhutto!
Pakistan is a nuclear-armed state. We don’t need an international investigation to determine that radical forces in Pakistan killed Ms. Bhutto, so as to destabilize the country. If Hillary Clinton were truly wise and seasoned on foreign affairs, she would not be wasting time on an international investigation, but look seriously at what policies need to be enacted to insure that Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal does no fall into the hands of forces that would not hesitate to hand those weapons over to groups like Al-Qaeda. Should that nightmare scenario unfold, one does not need to consult the brilliant intellects of either Obama or Clinton to understand what the consequences would be for the United States.

With just over a week to go before the Iowa caucus, the latest poll from that state shows Hillary Clinton for the first time with a double-digit lead over Barack Obama. In fact, in that poll Obama comes in third, right behind John Edwards. The Obama surge keeps piling on.
One would think that Hillary Clinton would want to trumpet this poll on her official presidential campaign website. However, it is not that poll, but a Gallup poll just out on the most admired woman in the world, that Hillaryland has chosen to spotlight. As you can guess, Hillary Clinton was polled the most admired woman in the world. She even beat out Oprah Winfrey.
There is a rationale for the Clinton political machine to focus on this Gallup poll, and ignore what one would think is good news about the rise in Senator Clinton’s fortunes in Iowa. Hillary Clinton’s whole strategy for winning the presidency is based on getting the lion’s share of the woman’s vote. This Gallup poll will be used by Hillary to convince the women of Iowa that she really is their girl. If it works in Iowa, it may be the pattern for the remaining primary contests as the 2008 campaign now moves into a higher level of intensity.

The day after Christmas, Hillary Clinton will be back campaigning in Iowa. This follows her five-day Iowa blitz last week. While the media suggests that the Clinton camp is in panic because recent New Hampshire polls show Obama either tied or in a slight lead with Hillary, it may be something else is in the works.
Prior to her Iowa road show and endorsement from the Des Moines Register, Senator Clinton was trailing Obama in that state. Recent polls, however, show Hillary Clinton with a small lead in Iowa. It may be that the Clinton political machine senses a chance to win the Iowa caucus. Should that happen, the so-called Obama surge is over. It may be that what is new is that Hillary Clinton is making Iowa a top priority for her campaign, rather than writing that state’s caucus off as a contest she can afford to lose.

Hillary Clinton’s initial anti-Obama barbs appear to have backfired. However, if nothing else, the Clinton political machine is resilient. Hillary’s PR operatives seem to have brought a new, far more subtle and sophisticated method of assaulting Barack Obama. Rather than doing it directly, the media is doing the job for the Clintons.
In the last few days, The New York Times and Associated Press have come out with major stories, seeking to portray Obama as weak, afraid to take a stand, and who has frequently changed political positions. The New York Times, for example, featured a front-page story that waxes on how often Obama voted “present” in the Illinois legislature, suggesting he was afraid to vote “yes” or “no.” The AP story shows Obama as having a self-contradictory political record.
We can all see where Hillary is going with this. The Clinton campaign will now be able to quote from the supposedly objective media in future attacks on Obama, while keeping their own hands out of the mud. Hillary Clinton is not going to permit Obama a free ride towards spoiling her nominating coronation, and it appears that referring to the media attacking Obama is a much smoother but no less confrontational evolution of the battle Hillary Clinton is waging against her primary Democratic nemesis.

Bill Clinton spoke the other day on the campaign trail, and boasted that his wife was “a genius.” Now, it would be a real stretch to consider Bill Clinton the most objective evaluator of Hillary Clinton’s intellect. So, what about her IQ score; does it register above 140? As this information, like many other files on Hillary Clinton, are held under lock and key, we are left to speculate. However, we can assume that if Hillary had such a stellar IQ, the Clinton political machine would somehow “leak” this information to the media.
It appears, therefore, that one must look at the life accomplishments of Hillary Clinton to determine if she is, in fact, a genius. So, what are those accomplishments? Unlike Albert Einstein, there are no theories of relativity to her credit, and unlike Thomas Edison, no revolutionary inventions. It should also be pointed out that, unlike former Clinton vice president Al Gore, she did not invent the Internet.
What we do have is her most important vote in her Senate career, authorizing George W. Bush to wage a two trillion-dollar war in Iraq due to an intelligence “mistake.” Then there was her attempt to cover for her husband’s lies about Monica Lewinsky by blaming the so-called “vast right-wing conspiracy” for the scandal. I don’t think those decisions, noteworthy as they are (within a certain Clintonian context), rise to the level of genius.
Search high and low, the only aspect of Hillary Clinton that rises to the level of genius is her ingenious facility to fool the American people into believing that a person with her scant qualifications and accomplishments really is the most qualified presidential candidate in all the land.

In the process of wrapping up the Iowa 5-day road show, the Clinton political machine is about to unleash its Stuka dive bombers on the “live free or die” state of New Hampshire. This coming weekend Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton and an army of surrogates will plaster all the counties in New Hampshire. Though Iowa is currently the focus of media coverage, New Hampshire’s presidential primary, the first of the 2008 election year, will actually set the pace of the campaign.
Latest polls from New Hampshire show Hillary Clinton regaining her double-digit lead over Barack Obama. It appears that the upcoming Clinton blitz is designed to firm up Hillary’s lead so that she wins the primary, irrespective of the outcome in Iowa.

With the Barack Obama campaign competitive enough so that Hillary Clinton will actually have to work for her nominating coronation, Bill Clinton is becoming increasingly unhappy with the whole deal. When interviewed recently on the Charlie Rose Show, Mr. Clinton actually complained about how the American people do not fully realize how vastly more qualified Hillary Clinton is over her major Democratic rival.
This behavior is not new for the former President. He has complained many times in the past, when he felt that neither he nor Hillary were properly regarded as the infallible geniuses that they think they are.
Perhaps what we are seeing in recent polling data is no so much that people are convinced that neophyte Obama has what it takes to be an effective president. Rather, it might be that more Americans are rubbing the sand out of their eyes, and starting to question all the Clinton propaganda on how meritorious these two ego-mad politicians are.
