New Hillary Clinton Biography Exposes Hillary Preparation On Iraq War Vote

A couple of new Hillary Clinton books will soon be published, joining many others, including my own book, “Hillary Clinton Nude.” Though not yet due for publication, copies of these new books have been leaked to The Washington Post. One of the books alleges that Hillary Clinton never bothered to read the National Intelligence Estimate prior to voting to authorize Bush’s war in Iraq. The NIE raised serious doubts about Bush’s rationalization for the war and its consequences.

While interesting, this revelation is hardly surprising. In “Hillary Clinton Nude,” I devote a chapter to analyzing Hillary Clinton and her vote for the war, as well as her vacillations that followed. To tell the truth, I would have been shocked if Hillary Clinton had bothered to read the NIE, or any serious scholarly papers warning about the dangers and fallacies of this war of choice. My view, elaborated on in my book, is that Hillary Clinton based her vote in support of authorizing Bush to attack Iraq, without provocation, solely on her perceived political self-interest. Senator Clinton was far more interested in polling data than the NIE in rendering her decision. For that same reason, her latest Senate vote against funding the war she originally supported must also be seen as an example of Hillary’s political expediency.

One salient fact remains a mystery to me. How could a politician who voted in such a disastrous manner, as well as coldly-calculating way in support of the Iraq war, today be the clear front-runner for succeeding George W. Bush in the White House? The answer to that question may be too painful for the American people to endure.
