Plan “A” And Plan “B” For Hillaryland

A story on the newswires claims that if Hillary Clinton “falters” in Iowa, her plan “B” is to win in New Hampshire. I think the media has got it backwards. The Clinton camp intends to win decisively in New Hampshire, sweep the remaining early states, than go for the gold on “Tsunami Tuesday,” February 5. That is plan “A.” In my view, winning in Iowa was always plan “B” for Hillary Clinton.

The Clinton political machine always knew that the capricious Iowa caucus is tough to win, unless a disproportionate share of campaign resources is allocated to the state. Iowa is important until the New Hampshire primary, which follows a mere five days later and then Iowa is forgotten. When Bill Clinton first ran for president, he didn’t even bother to campaign in the Iowa caucus. It is known that several of Hillary Clinton’s senior advisors did not want her running in Iowa, as well. However, it appears the Clinton political machine decided to be present in Iowa, but as plan “B.” Should Hillary Clinton actually win in Iowa, then the Democratic nomination is effectively concluded. If she doesn’t, then it may take until February 5, one month later.
