Faking Hillary Clinton’s Foreign Affairs “Expertise”

In the cascading duel between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama over who is the least inexperienced candidate for president, the Clinton political machine is sure going to extreme lengths to buttress the supposedly meritorious foreign affairs credentials of their candidate. Hillary Clinton’s campaign has now released a statement from 32 former ambassadors and diplomats, vouching for her most amazing knowledge of the external world that they witnessed first hand while Hillary was the First Lady and co-president.

Sounds impressive, but we must take into account that many American ambassadors are not professional diplomats, but rather business people who raised lots of money for the winning presidential candidate, and got their overseas appointment as a reward. Hillary Clinton does not specify which of the ambassadors whose names are affixed to this statement were actually patronage appointees to their embassies. In addition, the list itself does not exactly impress. It includes “ambassadors” to such geopolitical powerhouses as Ghana and Gabon, not to mention Romania. Left off this illustrious list are ambassadors from more pivotal foreign powers.

This list is as meaningless as all the other claims put out by Hillary Clinton and her political machine. There is no authentic output from her own intellect (as opposed to staffers) that demonstrates a convincing grasp of foreign affairs as it relates to America’s national security. However, for sheer duplicity, this meaningless “proof” of expertise does demonstrate other skills of Hillary’s that are far more relevant to how she intends to win the 2008 presidential election.
